A more delicate alternative to a traditional onion. The Shallots at The Green Berry will fill your mouth with flavour, particularly hints of garlic. Perfect for those who do not like the harshness of an onion.
Our fruit and vegetables come from the locally sourced The Green Berry, with organic produce that are more environmentally friendly than our supermarket counterparts, and a lot tastier too. We choose this way because of our duty to nature, and how we need to succeed in helping the planet become a greener and more efficient place for everyone.
Storage and Preparation:
Shallots have a delicate flavour, less intense than most onions and they also dissolve easily into liquids, which is why they are favoured for sauces. Skin shallots in the same way as onions, i.e. top and tail them and then peel off the outer skin. Pull apart the bulbs. Slice them carefully and thinly using a sharp knife - shallots are so small, it is easy to slip and cut yourself. When cooking them whole, fry over a very gentle heat without browning too much. Suitable for home freezing. Remember to wash all fruits & veggies before eating.
