Frank Shiraz Mourvedre Viognier, 2020 Abv 14% Western Cape, South Africa: So let's be FRANK... this wine is 100% fermented grapes! A velvety smooth Rhone Blend with good depth of colour. Well-rounded with a concentration of blackcurrant, cherry and peppercorn. A full-bodied with grippy tannins and a hint of blueberry on the palate. The Vineyard: Grapes were sourced from vineyards in the Costal Region on mostly clay-loam soils. The vineyards are meticulously farmed and managed.
Winemaking: The Shiraz and Mourvedre Grapes were harvested fully ripe, in the early morning. The Viognier grapes were harvested ripe, once the skin changed to a slight yellow colour on the shoulder of the bunch whereafter it was a whole bunch pressed. After crushing the must was cold-soak for a week before the onset of fermentation. Selected Rhone yeast strains were used. The wine spent 12 months in barrels before being blended.
Food Pairings: Ribeye steak with spicy sauces, Oxtail with black peppercorn.
